Saving Sight in Rural Communities
Access to basic medical care has increased around the developing world, and PETRONAS supports this effort by bringing specialised eye care to the rural communities. Since the early 1980s we have contributed towards saving the sight of people in local rural communities.

Mobile Eye Clinic and Operating Theatre - Sayang Mata
Our partnership with the Tun Hussein Onn National Eye Hospital began in 1986 as part of our efforts to help eliminate preventable blindness by extending eye screening and treatment services to rural areas in Malaysia.

Currently, PETRONAS sponsors a Mobile Eye Clinic and a Mobile Eye Operating Theatre which make regular weekend visits to rural communities to provide ophthalmic services including eye screening, corrective and surgical procedures. Offering free treatment for the disadvantaged, these mobile units are staffed by volunteer nurses and specialists from the hospital.
