PETRONAS regrets to inform that the body of the missing crew aboard Geos was found by the search and rescue team on 18 April 2018 at around 1.30pm, in the vessel, approximately 10km off the coast of Baram, Miri.
The body of Mohamad Saiful Ashnar, 31, an employee of Asian Geos Sdn Bhd, was taken to the Miri General Hospital for post-mortem.
There were 39 crew members on board when the vessel caught fire at 3.15am on 17 April. The other 38 crew members have safely arrived in Miri, with two sustaining injuries and taken to the Miri and Kuching General Hospital.
The vessel, owned by Asian Geos Sdn Bhd, was conducting geo-technical survey for PETRONAS.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
