PETRONAS Continues to Enhance Employment Opportunities Through SL1M-GEES

2018 Media Release - 26 Feb

PETRONAS fortified its commitment to human capital development for the nation as it marked its seventh year of involvement in the Skim Latihan 1 Malaysia (SL1M) - Graduate Enhancement Employability Scheme (GEES) at the launch of ‘Program Temu Duga Skim Latihan 1Malaysia Peringkat Zon Tengah 2018’. The event was officiated by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Selangor.

According to PETRONAS President and Group CEO, Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin “The company is committed to enhance the marketability of unemployed graduates in Malaysia. PETRONAS SL1M-GEES programme is designed and developed by PETRONAS Leadership Centre (PLC). These modules are made to intensify the required skills for fresh graduates to secure a job within a short period of time”

This year, PETRONAS aims to increase public awareness on the programme, as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, simultaneously aiming to increase the number of applications for this year’s intake.

The success rate of the number of participants employed is evident of the quality of training and exposure given to them. To date, there are 12 batches of GEES with 690 graduates enrolled into the programme. Approximately 89% of the participants were employed within three to six months upon completion with 22% of them currently employed by PETRONAS.

Online application is open via PETRONAS official website throughout the year. Applicant must be Malaysian citizen not more than 26 years old at point of application, possess a Bachelor Degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 and unemployed for the past six to twelve months.

PETRONAS was also awarded with Platinum SL1M Award for Most Philanthropic Employer 2017 during the event. The award recognises PETRONAS’ effort in investing for development of Malaysia’s graduates through the SL1M GEES programme.
