The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic proves to be challenging for businesses to operate without disruptions. However, MPM and other industry players continue to receive support from Malaysia’s Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) to ensure safety measures are in place through joint site visits and sharing best practices. A joint site visit was organised on 16 March 2021 by Mubadala Petroleum and participated by MPM and DOSH at the Pegaga Gas Field Development Project. The project site is located at Sapura Fabrication Sdn Bhd, Lumut, Perak. The Pegaga Integrated Central Processing Platform (ICPP) is currently in the final stage of completion. Once completely built, the ICPP will be transported for hook-up and commissioning in Block SK320, with 108m water depth and approximately 250km off the coast of Bintulu, Sarawak. The ICPP is designed to produce 550 MMSCFD gas and 10,505 bpd condensate.

The objective of the site visit is to observe Offshore Self Regulation (OSR) activities and Occupational, Safety & Health (OSH) management within the said project. The site visit was joined by Jalal Abu Bakar, Vice President Commercial of Mubadala Petroleum, while DOSH and MPM delegates were led by Handan Ramli, Senior General Manager, Productions & Operations Management of MPM, and Ir. Haji Mohd. Hatta Zakaria, Director, Petroleum Safety Division of DOSH (Putrajaya).

The programme commenced with a safety briefing by Sapura Fabrication Sdn Bhd on the COVID-19 precautionary measures and yard safety, followed by opening remarks by Jalal, Handan and Ir. Haji Mohd. Hatta. DOSH and MPM commended Mubadala Petroleum for their continuous improvement in HSE performance, contractor management and compliance to Offshore Self Regulation (OSR). Among other things conducted during the site visit was a brief introduction on the Pegaga Gas Field Development Project and HSE walkabout at the ICPP. As part of the COVID-19 precautionary measures, visitors had to adhere to a strict SOPs set by the organiser during the one-hour walkabout that covers each level of the ICPP.

Through continuous collaboration with various stakeholders, Mubadala Petroleum is expected to continue striving for excellence without compromising safety for many years to come.
