PCG’s Ramadan Charity Fest
Kuala Lumpur, 12 June 2018 – In conjunction with Ramadan, PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), in collaboration with Kelab Sukan dan Rekreasi PETRONAS, recently held the Ramadan Charity Fest at the Twin Tower Fitness Centre, KLCC, on 7 and 8 June 2018.
Opened to PETRONAS employees and the public, about 50 vendors and employees participated to sell various products to raise fund for charity.
An auction was also conducted for PCG management team’s pre-loved items, to raise fund. In addition, a donation drive was also carried out to support this charitable initiative.
PCG’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Sazali Hamzah expressed his gratitude for the support from employees and vendors for the Charity Fest.
“Every year PCG will raise funds for charity and each year we strive to raise more in order to contribute more to the less fortunate. In 2016 and 2017, we managed to raise about RM13,000 and RM18,000 respectively,” he said.
Sazali added, “Ramadan is a month of reflection and teaches us empathy and compassion to those that are less fortunate. It serves as a reminder to not only appreciate our blessings, but to share our fortunes. In the spirit of giving, we are humbled to contribute and give back to those in need through our charity drive.”
“Through this event, we are not only giving back to the community but we are also helping small businesses by providing them opportunity to do business and contribute at the same time”, he said.
This year’s programme raised RM43,000 in donation for two charity homes, Rumah Penyayang Ulin Nuha and Pusat Jagaan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Seri Kundang.
PCG’s Commercial Team also organised a visit to Rumah Titian Kasih in Titiwangsa to get together with orphans, single mothers, the disabled and senior citizens.
During the visit, the team contributed RM6,000 to the welfare home to help with the preparation for the Hari Raya celebration.
PCG conducts various Corporate Social Responsibility programmes to promote volunteerism amongst its employees.
