Bringing Rays of Hope into the lives of the communities
Imagine living in a world with little or no light when the sun sets. Simple tasks such as reading or threading a needle become impossible chores when night falls. To many of us, electricity is deemed as just another commodity in life, but for some, it is considered a luxury.
Those are the plights of some of the Orang Asli in Malaysia, who do not have access to electricity and thousands of community-based centres that need to pay an expensive monthly utility bill as part of their operations.
With the aim to enhance the livelihood of the community, PETRONAS now provides clean and free energy to selected Orang Asli communities and the residents of community-based centres across the nation.
In collaboration with SOLS 24/7 and Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA), this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme illuminates the darkest moments of the Orang Asli by enabling daily chores to be done even when night falls. The programme also brightens the days of community-based centres' residents by allowing them to enjoy saving on their electricity expenses.
