Environmental Impact
- Reduces emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter compared to conventional marine fuels.
- Emits approximately 20-25% less CO2.
- Supports global efforts to mitigate climate change.

Fuel Efficiency
- LNG has a higher energy density compared to conventional marine fuels, allowing vessels to achieve the same power output with less fuel consumption.
- Improve fuel consumption efficiency by 25%

Regulatory Compliance
- Helps ships meet stringent emissions regulations, especially in Emission Control Areas (ECAs).
- Aligns with the FuelEU Maritime targets for GHG intensity up until 2040, allowing ship operators to avoid penalties associated with noncompliance.
PETRONAS Marine has a proven track record in LNG bunker transfer, supplying LNG to customers' vessels for generation of propulsion or electrical power safely and efficiently.
We continue to explore new ways to deliver energy reliably to ourbusiness partners, including:
- barges or bunker vessels
- trucks
- cartridges or portable tanks (ISO containers)
We are an experienced operator in Southeast Asia offering LNG bunker transfer from Type-C Tanks to Membrane Tanks. Our expertise and experience in managing the pressure and temperature difference between the tanks enables PETRONAS Marine to deliver our solutions safely and efficiently to some of the world’s largest LNG-powered vessels calling to ports in the region.
Tank Gassing Up
This service helps to condition new LNG storage tanks or existing ones that were exposed to atmospheres other than that of natural gas or gas feed. This is an important safety requirement to avoid explosive atmosphere mixture and contamination to the LNG.
Tank Cooling Down
LNG is normally kept at a cryogenic temperature of -163°C. This service cools down the LNG tank to between -130°C to -150°C prior to receiving LNG to prevent thermal shock to the tank. It is a common requirement for LNG-powered vessels to cool down the upper section of storage tank as the LNG level remaining on board reduces.
Tank Gassing Up and Cooling Down Services
This service fulfils the standard requirement for LNG-powered vessels that are newly delivered or have recently conducted maintenance activities on the LNG storage/containment system.
PETRONAS Marine also provides heel supply to LNG carriers and LNG-powered vessels to ensure the safe and efficient operations of our business partners. With heel supply, vessels are able to maintain the ready condition of the storage tanks ahead of reaching ports, achieving significant time and cost saving on operations.
