Health Clinic Receives Ambulance and Medical Equipment

Pengerang, Johor, 15 October 2016 – PETRONAS Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) reinforces its commitment to health, safety and environment (HSE) by bringing a health awareness programme to residents here, in conjunction with World Mental Health Day.

Organised in collaboration with the Kota Tinggi District Health Office, the programme is aimed at educating and raising awareness about mental health among the Pengerang local community. The event featured forums by medical and spiritual professionals discussing mental health, human emotions and its association with occupational health.

The half-day event held at Taman Bayu Damai, was graced by Tanjung Surat Assemblyman, Dato' Syed Sis Syed Abdul Rahman. Also present were PETRONAS Senior Vice President of Group Human Resource Management, Dato' Raiha Azni Abdul Rahman; Johor State Health Department Deputy Director for Public Health, Dr Fatimah Othman; and Kota Tinggi District Health Officer, Dr Norhamimah Abdullah.

Also at the event, PETRONAS donated a fully equipped ambulance worth RM270,000, as well as medical equipment worth RM31,200, to the Sungai Rengit Health Clinic. The contributions were courtesy of Dana Asy-Syakirin PETRONAS, and the Wives and Women Staff Association of PETRONAS (PETRONITA), respectively.

In her remarks, Dato' Raiha Azni said, "Both the programme and donations are in line with PETRONAS' corporate social investment (CSI) philosophy to contribute towards community well-being and development, as well as a reaffirmation of PETRONAS' commitment to Health Safety and Environment.

"PETRONAS hopes that the ambulance and medical equipment will help improve the health care capacities at the Sungai Rengit Health Clinic, and benefit the local community in Pengerang," she added.

Health awareness is an on-going effort by PETRONAS in Pengerang. In the past months, PIC had organised health awareness talk for teenagers at Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) in Bandar Penawar, and a gotong-royong to fight dengue with village folks in Kampung Bukit Buloh.
