KUALA LUMPUR, 28 September 2016 – PETRONAS today sealed an agreement for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) of an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) warehouse for its petrochemical plants in Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC).
The EPCC contract was signed by PETRONAS and a consortium of Sinopec Engineering (Group) Co Ltd, Sinopec Shanghai Engineering Co Ltd and Sinopec Engineering Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
The facility will be PETRONAS' first automated warehouse capable of meeting a 21-day storage inventory for polymer products in PIC, namely Polypropylene (PP), Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) and Flexible Polyethylene (Flexi PE). The contract also included other associated solid handling facilities for the ASRS warehouse.
The Sinopec consortium received the Letter of Award (LOA) from PRPC Utilities and Facilities Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn Bhd (PRPC) on 1 August 2016. The project is expected to be completed within the next 27 months.
The signing ceremony was held at the Malaysian Petroleum Club in PETRONAS Twin Towers. PRPC Utilities and Facilities was represented by PETRONAS Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of PRPC, Ir Dr Colin Wong Hee Huing. Also present was PETRONAS Vice President and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad, Datuk Sazali Hamzah.
In his remarks, Ir Dr Colin Wong commended the efforts by all parties in ensuring that the agreement is finalised within schedule.
