KUALA LUMPUR, 16 November 2017 – PRPC Refinery & Cracker Sdn Bhd began the second-phase development of fuel quality upgrading processing units at the Pengerang Integrated Complex with the signing of an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) contract here, today.
PRPC Refinery & Cracker Sdn Bhd signed the contract with a consortium of CTCI Corporation & MIE Industrial Sdn Bhd.
Under the contract, the consortium will carry out the EPCC of the Cracked Naphta Hydrotreating Unit; Isomerisation Unit; Tertiary-Armyl-Methyl-Ether Etherification Unit; four spherical tanks; one Internal Floating Roof tank; including other related works for the production of Euro5 fuel at the PIC.
The project development will take 23.5 months and the facilities are expected to be ready for start-up in the third quarter of 2019.
The signing was held at the PETRONAS Twin Towers in the presence of PETRONAS' Senior Vice President and CEO of PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn Bhd, Ir Dr Colin Wong Hee Huing; Vice Chairman & President of CTCI Corporation, Mr Michael Yang; and Chief Executive Officer of MIE Industrial Sdn Bhd, Mr. Khairuddin Othman.
"The Euro5 emission standard imposes strict caps on pollutant emissions for motor vehicles, resulting in improved air quality and general well-being of the society at large," said Ir Dr Colin.
"PETRONAS is the first Oil Company in Malaysia to produce Euro5 compliant Petrol, reflecting our commitment in support of the government towards a greener Malaysia," he added.
