Bandar Penawar, 21 November 2017 – PETRONAS through its subsidiary, PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn Bhd (PRPC), brought smiles to a total of 549 schoolchildren from Kota Tinggi area, through the company's Back to School programme.
Held at Dewan Kejora, here, the event saw the students from 19 schools receive two pairs of new school uniforms and a pair of shoes.
The contributions were presented by PRPC's Head of Stakeholder, Communication and Risk Management, Datin Anita Azrina Abdul Aziz.
Speaking at the event, Datin Anita Azrina said, "We hope that by providing these basic necessities, the children will look forward to the new academic year as well as to become more motivated to work hard in achieving success in their academic journey."
The guest of honour to mark the official presentation of the Back to School packs was Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Johor Kawasan Tanjung Surat, Dato' Ir Syed Sis Syed Abdul Rahman who expressed his gratitude to PETRONAS for organising the Back to School programme. "Back to School programme aims to provide support to poor families and is one of PETRONAS' way of giving back to the community" he added.
The Back to School programme also provided business opportunities to a group of small business entrepreneurs, single parents and housewives under Persatuan Peniaga dan Usahawan Kejora (MyCraft PuPUK), who produced the school uniforms. MyCraft PuPUK currently has 18 members.
