Millions of Muslims around the world anticipate the start of Ramadan as a time to draw closer to their Creator through a month of intense prayer, dawn-to-dusk fasting and the breaking of fast with family and friends. Above and beyond the Islamic traditions, the holy month is also a time of giving and charity.

Embracing the spirit of compassion and generosity, and making sure the less fortunate are not sidelined from the Ramadan celebrations, Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) jointly with Kota Tinggi District Office treated 300 residents to buka puasa. The program held on 12 May 2019 at Masjid AR-Raudah, Pekan Pengerang saw a total of 100 residents receiving cash donations marks the fifth Majlis Berbuka Puasa Bersama Komuniti’ since the commencement of the development of the PIC.

“The Majlis Buka Puasa with the community is a way for us to contribute to the less fortunate, in line with the Islamic teachings of caring, sacrifice and sympathy to the less fortunate”, said District Officer of Kota Tinggi, Tuan Haji Farizal Ismail after officiating the event.
“We are delighted to have the residents of Pengerang with us here today as their presence certainly makes this event a more meaningful and joyous occasion,” he added
After breaking of fast and performing the maghrib prayers, the guests joined their hosts for a sumptuous dinner, which included of an array of local delicacies.

Earlier in the day, a total of 50 volunteers from PETRONAS and PRefChem along with local residents joined hands to clean the mosque and its grounds in preparation of the event as well as to cook the synonymous dish with Ramadan, “bubur lambuk” which was then distributed to the nearby residents.
