PIC declared as ‘Protected Areas and Protected Places’

​​​The Pengerang Integrated (PIC) complex received a delegation from the Chief Government Security Office on 16 January 2019.  The delegation led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Dato’ Sanusi bin Sidek, Director General Chief Government Security Office (CGSO) in his first working visit to the PIC was accorded a warm welcome by Head of Security, Encik Ramli Mohamad.

​​​As part of the working visit, the delegation was also tasked to evaluate whether the current security measures are up to par in order to qualify the PIC as a national strategic asset and as a key installation that will be governed under the Act 298 (Protected Areas and Protected Places 1959). This Act prescribes steps necessary for the protection of any protected area or protected place declared to be so by the Minister. No person shall be in the premises of protected places unless in possession of a pass-card or permit issued by an authorised officer.
 
​​​It came as no surprise when DCP Dato’ Sanusi bin Sidek said that the PIC is supported by a well-established security operations in his reciprocal speech.  He further added that the visit has indeed provided the delegation with better insights on the various security features governing the PIC.  The compliments were received with thunderous applaud and he took the jubilant ambience a notch higher when he announced that he was also going to present the PIC with the official approval Order of ‘Protected Areas and Protected Places’ Act 1959 (Act 298).  The order was signed by Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin Bin Haji Mohd Yasin, Minister of Home Affair dated 28th December 2018.  This achievement is indeed reflective of the spirit of “One Team One Goal” in true embodiment of “Shared Success”.

​​​A tour of the PIC as well as the Temporary Camp Facilities followed suit providing the delegates with an awe inspiring visuals that is the PIC. The half day visit came to an end with a tree planting ceremony marking the achievement of another significant milestone for the PIC Security team as the PIC is now officially declared as ‘Protected Areas and Protected Places’.
