We apply a life cycle thinking approach across our operations, conducting detailed Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) in Malaysia to measure carbon and water footprints, as well as broader health and environmental impacts. This cradle-to-gate methodology ensures transparency from resource extraction to factory gate.

To support responsible sourcing, we’ve implemented RAWMIR (Raw Material Information Request), a compliance programme that enables early identification of hazardous substances and ensures our products are free from conflict minerals such as gold, tantalum, tin, and tungsten.

We ensure our customers and stakeholders are well-informed by providing accurate product safety information. Our Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are publicly accessible at https://sds.petronas.com.my, and we publish Global Product Strategy (GPS) safety summaries for products that have undergone detailed risk assessments.

We also conduct Product Risk Assessments (PRA) using the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) methodology, evaluating chemical risks and mitigation measures. To date, we’ve completed detailed risk assessments for 100% of all prioritised products, reinforcing our commitment to safety and compliance.

We proactively monitor legislative developments to ensure our products meet all local and international regulatory requirements. Through regular and rigorous screenings of our product portfolio, we identify substances of concern and address potential risks.

To uphold high safety standards, we conduct third-party contractor assessments aligned with our Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and product safety protocols. We also perform continuous hazard assessments to validate existing data, identify improvement areas, and eliminate potential hazards.
