Olefins, Glycols & Derivatives

01
Ethylene

Ethylene is one of the most important petrochemical intermediates and is a feedstock for various products. It is a colourless, flammable gas with a faint "sweet and musky" odour when pure. It is the simplest alkene and is widely used in the chemical industry.

FEEDSTOCK
Ethane, Propane

APPLICATION
Ethylene is the raw material used in the manufacture of Polyethylene (PE), Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG), Ethylene Dichloride (EDC), Ethylbenzene and Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM). These products are used in a wide variety of industrial and consumer markets such as:
• Packaging
• Transportation
• Electrical/Electronic
• Textile
• Construction Industries
• Consumer Chemicals
• Coatings
• Adhesives
02
Propylene

Propylene, also called propene is an olefin with the chemical formula C3H6. A colourless gas, it is obtained from the thermal cracking of hydrocarbons ranging from natural gas liquids (ethane, propane and butane) to petroleum liquids (naphtha and gas oils).

• Monomer of superabsorbent polymers for manufacturing of diapers, feminine hygiene and personal care products
• Pharmaceutical solvents, cosmetics, toiletries and liquid detergents

03
Ethylene Glycols

Ethylene Glycols are organic compounds used as raw materials in the manufacturing of polyester resins, the precursor for the production of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) plastic containers and bottles, as well as polyester fibres in the fabrics and textiles industry. A small percentage is used in industrial applications such as antifreeze formulations, coolants and other industrial applications.

Ethonas EB, Ethonas DB & Ethonas B260

Butyl Glycol Ethers are clear, colourless liquids with a syrupy consistency, absorbs moisture, dissolves in water, ethanol, acetone and slightly in ether. The main use for glycol ethers is as solvents for formulations such as paints, inks, and cleaning fluid applications. Glycol ethers, with both an ether and alcohol functional group in the same molecule, are one of the most versatile classes of organic solvents. PCG produces Ethonas EB, Ethonas DB and B260
