PAKA, 17 July 2019 – PETRONAS Gas Berhad (PGB), a subsidiary of PETRONAS, wishes to update on the fire incident that occurred on 16 July 2019 at 7.43 pm, at one of PGB’s gas processing plants located in Paka, Terengganu.
The fire, which was confined to one of the plant’s equipment, De-Methanizer Column, was completely extinguished at 4.30 am.
We are currently working closely with the relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the incident.
We wish to assure members of the public that the situation is under control and no injuries nor fatalities have been recorded.
The incident posed no immediate threat to the surrounding communities and no health-related risk.
There is also no major impact to PGB's overall operations as our other gas processing facilities will ensure uninterrupted gas supply to our customers.
