KERTIH, 21 September 2025 – Subsequent to the gas leak incident near Kampung Chabang, Kertih, Terengganu on 20 September 2025, a controlled flaring exercise is being conducted at the affected pipeline until 25 September 2025.
This is a standard safety procedure which would allow residual gas in the isolated section to be safely released and burned. Passersby may observe some flaring during this time. However, we would like to assure that this is to be expected. The exercise, conducted under strict supervision by the Fire & Rescue Department (BOMBA), is followed by continuous monitoring to minimise risks to the community and environment.
