Tan Sri Shamsul was the former President & CEO of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) from 10 February 2010 to 31 March 2015, a company he joined since 1975 and had served in various capacities during his 40 years tenure with the organization.

Working experience and occupation
|
During his leadership, he guided PETRONAS in undertaking strategic landmark projects such as Pengerang Integrated Refinery and Petrochemical Project (RAPID), Bintulu Train 9 Project, PETRONAS Floating LNG Facilities Project and the Regasification Terminal Project in Malacca. Tan Sri further strengthened PETRONAS' position through the acquisition of Progress Energy Canada and the deelopment of shale gas to LNG via the Pacific North West LNG project.

Tan Sri Shamsul had also served as Chairman of PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (February 2010 - March 2015) as well as President/CEO of MISC Berhad (July 2004 - December 2008) and Chairman of MISC Berhad (February 2010 - August 2011). He also held various directorships within the PETRONAS Group.
