PETRONAS and Tokyo Gas Sign Memorandum of Collaboration

2016 Media Release - 31 Oct

PETRONAS LNG Ltd. (PLL) and Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd signed a memorandum of collaboration (MOC) in a ceremony held at Tokyo Gas’ headquarters in Japan on 28 October 2016.

The MOC aims to establish a platform to enhance the 33-year business relationship between PETRONAS and Tokyo Gas which began as Malaysia was embarking on its initial liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Bintulu, Sarawak through MLNG Satu, and sustained throughout the development of MLNG Dua and MLNG Tiga.

The MOC will allow both parties to pursue potential collaboration to further strengthen their global presence in the energy market especially in South East Asia and the Atlantic and Pacific basins.

“I am hoping that this collaboration between Tokyo Gas and PETRONAS will further strengthen our existing relationship to a global level,” said PETRONAS Executive Vice President & CEO, Upstream, Datuk Mohd Anuar Taib.

“I am confident that we can develop successful new businesses by fully utilising both of our strengths,” added Mr. Takashi Anamizu, Senior Executive Officer, Chief Executive Energy Resources & Global Business Division of Tokyo Gas.

PLL is a 100 per cent subsidiary of PETRONAS and is involved in buying and selling of LNG, as well as chartering of LNG vessels, transporting and supplying of LNG.

Tokyo Gas is Japan’s leading city gas company which produces and distributes natural gas to customers in Tokyo and the surrounding area. Tokyo Gas has a vast experience and expertise in gas supplies, gas appliances, gas-related construction work and supply of district heating and cooling systems for cold and hot water and vapour, especially in the region of Kanto.
