Variance analysis 1H 2023 vs 1H 2022:

  1. Increased mainly contributed by increased power generation at PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation (PRPC) to support an increase in activity at Pengerang Refining Company Sdn Bhd and Pengerang Petrochemical Company Sdn Bhd (collectively known as PRefChem).

  2. Decreased mainly due to lower energy demand at Utilities Kerteh.

  3. Increased mainly due to higher energy generation in PRPC and higher refineries throughput

  4. Lower venting mainly at Bayan, Sarawak and Samarang, Sabah.

  5. Scope 3 category 11 data is reported annually.

  6. Decreased mainly due to higher production volume.

  1. Increased mainly due to running of new trains in Central Processing Facility (for International Operations).

  2. Increased mainly due to firewater pipeline leak and increase of make-up water.

  3. Increased mainly due to stable plant operations in 1H 2023 compared to 1H 2022, following shutdowns and turnarounds in 2022.

  4. Increased mainly due to increase in utilisation by training centers.
