The PETRONAS Winning Formula Experience (WFE) wrapped up on a high on Tuesday with a special appearance of newly crowned triple World Champion, MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team Driver Lewis Hamilton, and Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsports, Toto Wolff at the Esplanade, KLCC.
Fresh from the season finale in Abu Dhabi last weekend, both Hamilton and Wolff headed straight to Kuala Lumpur, home to the team’s Title and Technical partner, PETRONAS, for a press conference followed by a meet and greet with fans.
Featuring PETRONAS’ Trackside Laboratory, a Pit Stop Challenge and other attractions, the exhibition was held in commemoration of the team’s and Hamilton’s success, having bagged the Formula One World Constructors’ Championship and Formula One World Drivers’ Championship for the second consecutive year.
“We wanted to get Malaysians to be a part of this winning moment and get a feel of being with a Formula One team,” said Acting Senior General Manager of PETRONAS Group Strategic Communications, Rizan Ismail on the WFE that saw over 3,000 visitors from 28 Nov to 1 Dec 2015.
Justifiably proud of being part of this World Championship success, Rizan added: “In its vision to be a leading multinational in the oil and gas industry, PETRONAS sets its sight on being number one in everything. With the team we see commitment, passion and a challenging spirit in its management to the drivers, which is very much in line with the spirit of PETRONAS.”
What started out as a global branding initiative 20 years ago has grown into an opportunity for the Malaysian company to prove its expertise in designing world class fuel and lubricants through its cutting-edge Fluid Technology Solutions™.
In appreciation of its contribution to the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team’s achievements, Hamilton and Wolff presented the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix trophy to PETRONAS Executive President and CEO of Downstream Business, Encik Md Arif Mahmood, signaling an end to another triumphant campaign.
The Silver Arrows together with PETRONAS enjoyed a record-breaking season bagging 12 one-two finishes from the 19 races, surpassing the team’s 2014 benchmark. The Brackley-based outfit also broke the single-season record they set last year by two points, despite the fact that double points were not on offer like they were in 2014’s finale.
The team had also set 13 fastest laps, locked out front row positions 15 times, secured 18 pole positions, picked up 31 points and won 16 races.
“Since the start of our relationship, and especially since the new (F1) rules kicked in, we have been working very closely with PETRONAS engineers. The fluids in the car are a great part of our success that kept us pushing the boundaries from race to race. And that’s why we came from Abu Dhabi straight here, to say thank you,” said Wolff.
Offering an intelligent approach to fluid requirements, PETRONAS Fluid Technology Solutions™ maximizes performance through tailor-made products and expert services.
The same technical expertise in delivering fuel and lubricants to Hamilton’s and teammate, Rosberg’s F1W06 Hybrid goes into developing PETRONAS’ fuel and lubricants to power everyday road-going cars.
PETRONAS has introduced PETRONAS PRIMAX fuel with Advanced Energy Formula for road-going cars, including PRIMAX 95 for superior efficiency and PRIMAX 97 for superior acceleration, since the technical partnership with the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team started in 2010.
PETRONAS Syntium with CoolTech™ engine oil has also been developed to fight excessive engine heat, including the flagship PETRONAS Syntium 7000 engine oil, which is factory-fill for MERCEDES-AMG A45, CLA45, GLA45, GT and C63 road cars.
