Hanoi, 10 April 2025 – PETRONAS through its subsidiary, PETRONAS Carigali International Ventures Sdn. Bhd. recently signed a Technical Joint Study Agreement (TJSA) with Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group (Petrovietnam) to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential on open oil and gas blocks, offshore Vietnam.
Under the arrangement, both companies will conduct geological and geophysical evaluation on selected blocks in Vietnam for one year, with PCIV overseeing the study.
The TJSA was signed by PETRONAS Vice President of Exploration, Ahmad Faisal Bakar and Petrovietnam Deputy General Manager of Exploration Division, Nguyen Van Khuong.
“The impact of this joint study is significant as it signals a strong collaboration between PETRONAS and Petrovietnam, by leveraging technical expertise, resources and innovative solutions to unlock exploration opportunities in offshore Vietnam,” said Faisal.
He added the study will enable both companies to understand the prospectivity of the identified areas and establish investment opportunities in offshore Vietnam in the near future.
PETRONAS is currently the operator for Block 102 and 106 PSCs located at Song Hong Basin.
