PETRONAS continues to reach out to deserving communities by expanding its monthly food aid under Sentuhan Kasih PETRONAS programme to another 1,200 families in Melaka, Johor and Terengganu.
The programme was first launched in April involving 4,200 families in Kedah, Selangor, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak.
Aimed at improving the livelihood of communities, a total of RM7 million has been allocated for the programme in eight states.
In addition to receiving a monthly contribution of RM80 for a year, the deserving families will also receive RM240 each during this festive season to help with the preparations.
PETRONAS Senior General Manager, Group Strategic Communications, Zahariah (Liza) Abdul Rahman, said: "Following the successful execution of Sentuhan Kasih in April, we are pleased to further extend this programme to help ease the families' burden in managing their daily expenses, especially for those with many children.
"Through this CSR effort, we hope to also help spread cheer among the local communities as they prepare for the upcoming festive celebrations," she said.
All contributions will be made via cashless payment, where recipients can obtain essential food items at partnering supermarkets using their MyKad.
The contributions will be administered and distributed through the MyKasih Foundation from April 2018 to March 2019.
Since 2005, PETRONAS has embarked on several community initiatives including Sentuhan Kasih programmes aimed at contributing to the well-being of society and the nation.
