KUALA LUMPUR, 8 March 2024 – PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) and Grab Malaysia joined hands to honour Malaysian women delivery-partners to commemorate International Women’s Day this year.
Over 200 care packages containing PETRONAS Sprinta (1L) and other exclusive PETRONAS and Grab merchandise were distributed as tokens of appreciation to women delivery-partners at selected PETRONAS stations around Klang Valley, namely PETRONAS Jalan Kolam Ayer, Ampang; PETRONAS Lingkaran Karak, Gombak; and PETRONAS USJ 20, Subang Jaya. In addition, they also received complimentary basic technical inspections for their motorcycles.
PLI Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, Hezlinn Idris, said, “This year’s theme for International Women's Day 2024 is 'Inspire Inclusion', and here at PETRONAS Lubricants International, we want to appreciate and recognise the women who defy expectations and push beyond the stereotypes. As these delivery-partners combat road conditions on their everyday deliveries, we hope to forge meaningful connections with these unsung champions by providing them with the best lubricant solution.”
“This collaboration with Grab underscores PETRONAS Lubricants’ efforts to empower women through our line of products for riders from every walk of life. Our product development specialists at PETRONAS Global Research & Technology (R&T) Centre in Italy designed the PETRONAS Sprinta fluid to provide outstanding protection and performance, which activates instantly to help riders overcome the challenges and trials that they may face on their daily commutes. We hope that this would encourage them to forgetheir own path, ride through life their way and follow the path that truly speaks to who they are,” added Hezlinn.
As more women participate in traditionally male-dominated professions, the accessibility and safety features of apps like Grab are facilitating women’s economic empowerment. Grab prioritises safety for both delivery-partners and customers through various features including secure authentication for all users, safe communication within the app, and GPS-based trip monitoring alerts to notify drivers and riders of potential hazards. The Safety Centre provides resources for driver and passenger safety, while feedback features enable users to share their experiences and contribute to ongoing improvements. These measures collectively ensure a secure and reliable transportation experience for everyone involved.
One delivery-partner, Siti Norsakinah Mohd Nazir, who attended the event reflected, "Being a woman Grab delivery-partner can be challenging but exciting at the same time. Every day is really a new adventure with my trusted bike. So, I am very appreciative of this programme by PETRONAS, this means a lot to me.
