Sungai Udang, Melaka, 1 February 2019 – PETRONAS, through its subsidiary, Malaysian Refining Company Sdn Bhd (MRCSB), today contributed essential food items worth RM10,000 to 45 less privileged members of the community in Sungai Udang and Bertam Hulu areas. The contribution is part of PETRONAS’ Sentuhan Kasih initiative, one of the company’s signature Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.
The food items were presented by Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MRCSB, Hashim Majid, at an event held at Kompleks Dewan Jawatankuasa Pembangunan dan Penyelaras DUN (JAPERUN) Sungai Udang, here. Also in attendance were ADUN Klebang, YB Gue Teck and Coordinator of JAPERUN Sungai Udang Mohd Lokman Abdul Gani as well as volunteers from MRCSB and Association of Wives and Women Staff of PETRONAS (PETRONITA). Speaking on the initiative, Hashim said: “We hope our contributions will bring some joy to the recipients during the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations as well as help them with their daily needs.”
The food items, including rice, cooking oil, biscuits, sugar, and Mandarin oranges, were funded by Yayasan PETRONAS (YP), the Corporate Foundation of PETRONAS. YP is committed to contribute to the well-being of the society in three key focus areas, namely Education, Community Well-being & Development, and Environment.
Sentuhan Kasih is PETRONAS’ community outreach programme that provides assistance to less privileged groups across the country. It aims to reach out to those in need besides nurturing a sense of giving among PETRONAS employees.
