Kuala Lumpur, 31 July 2015 – PETRONAS today released a webfilm titled ‘Sampai Hati’, marking the end of its ‘Raya Treasures’ campaign launched in early June. The film imparts the essence and value of forgiveness and family unity in line with PETRONAS’ longstanding commitment to bring Malaysians together through festive communications.
The webfilm tells the story of two brothers who grew up worlds apart - one is an aspiring filmmaker who has an eye for beauty and dreams while the other a stern, assertive army man. Their differences have kept them apart growing up but they eventually forgive each other and move forward with a closer bond.
PETRONAS Senior General Manager of Strategic Communications, Liz Kamaruddin said, “the ‘Raya Treasures’ campaign encouraged all Malaysians to share their Raya memories with us. The response we received was beyond amazing. At PETRONAS, we believe that these stories, memories and lessons from yesterday define who we are today, but collectively, it defines us as a community and a nation. These collection of memories is a treasure trove that possess various ideals, values and practices that has seen us through bad times and good times, and helped us grow as a community”.
“With each festive communication, PETRONAS aims to bring Malaysians closer and encourage unity amongst us. PETRONAS has been doing this for the past two decades and we will continue to do so. We hope that the ‘Raya Treasures’ campaign will inspire all of us to cherish and hold on to our values, traditions and culture”, she added.
‘Sampai Hati’, submitted by 35 years old Rewan Ishak from Kangar, Perlis was the chosen story to be made into a webfilm as it carries a strong message of unity and togetherness; a message that PETRONAS would like to convey to all Malaysians.
“Most Malaysians always look forward to the festive communications by PETRONAS as they’re known to incorporate and highlight virtues that celebrate the beauty of the differences in Malaysia. I was surprised to learn that my story was selected to be made into a webfilm. I am proud that my story will now be part of the PETRONAS’ festive story and legacy,” said Rewan Ishak.
