The Joint Study and Development Agreement (JSDA) between PETRONAS, Storegga and XRG earned recognition as Energy Transition Initiative of the Year, for its efforts to assess saline aquifers in the Penyu Basin, offshore Peninsular Malaysia, for carbon dioxide emissions storage capabilities and the construction of carbon capture and storage (CCS) facilities.

The initiative demonstrates strong industry collaboration that supports Malaysia's long-term ambition to develop world-class storage sites and position itself as a global leader in CCS.

scoring an impressive 94 points and placing it in the top 4 per cent of buildings evaluated in the Non-Residential New Construction category.  With a Building Energy Index (BEI) of 128 kWh/m²/year, it also earned the maximum score of 15 points under the BEI criteria for a Non-Residential New Construction Hotel building. 

These accolades affirm the centre’s commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency and green innovation, marking yet another advancing sustainable practices throughout its operations.
