A sponsorship programme for deserving SPM leavers to pursue their tertiary education at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and other top leading local and overseas universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan and South Korea.

- Local Programme: Obtained minimum SPM 8A & CEFR (B1)
- Overseas Programme: Obtained minimum SPM 4A+ & 4A & CEFR (C1)

- Personality & Cognitive Assessment (Online assessment)
This assessment evaluates your thinking abilities and inherent personality traits to understand how you process information, solve problems, and respond to situations. It helps us identify key attributes that align with the expectations and demands of a PETRONAS scholar. - Leadership Competencies Assessment (Online)
This assessment focuses on your demonstrated behaviours and experiences throughout your secondary education. It aims to evaluate how you have applied leadership qualities in real-life contexts and the extent to which these competencies reflect the standards of a PETRONAS scholar. - Student Potential Assessment (Face-to-face assessment)
This is a face-to-face interview where candidates will be assessed by our own PETRONAS assessors. The assessment is designed to measure candidates' leadership and behavioural qualities.

Chevening-PETRONAS Scholarship
The Chevening-PETRONAS Scholarship is part of the United Kingdom (UK) government's prestigious global scholarship initiative, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) and PETRONAS. This programme offers two Malaysian students the opportunity to pursue a one-year master’s degree, focused on sustainability studies at a top UK university annually. Aimed at developing future leaders worldwide, this programme recognises individuals who demonstrate outstanding academic achievements, leadership potential, and a commitment to creating positive change in their home countries and communities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a Malaysian citizen with a commitment to return to Malaysia after studies.
- Have an undergraduate degree that qualifies for a postgraduate programme at a UK university.
- Have at least two years of working experience.
- Not be a current recipient of a UK government scholarship.
- Not hold British or dual British citizenship.
- Not be affiliated with the UK government or PETRONAS (including employees, former employees, and relatives).

Internship
A dynamic platform designed to provide undergraduates experiential learning opportunity and first working exposure in the energy industry and engage in various areas of a global company's operations.
Eligibility Criteria
- Application is open for students pursuing:
- Undergraduate degree from accredited local or overseas higher learning institutions where internship is a mandatory part of course completion in disciplines relevant to PETRONAS’ business needs.
- Diploma from accredited local learning institutions in TECHNICAL or ENGINEERING disciplines where internship is a mandatory part of course completion in disciplines relevant to PETRONAS’ business needs.
- Minimum duration for internship is eight (8) weeks and maximum of twelve (12) months.
- Minimum CGPA of 3.00 or equivalent.
- The following documents MUST be submitted via the application portal (Incomplete submission will not be entertained):

- Copy of the Industrial Training / Internship Letter by University (if applicable)

GEES
PETRONAS is supporting PROTEGE-RTW initiative through its Graduate Employability Enhancement Scheme (GEES). GEES aims to enhance employability of new graduates to obtain long term employment or to set up their own businesses.
Eligibility Criteria
- Malaysian citizen not more than 26 years old.
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree holder with minimum CGPA of 3.0.
- Unemployed or under-employed in non-relevant areas of graduate’s qualifications.
- Have not attended any similar programme offered by other GLCs / companies.

For over 30 years, PETRONAS has been dedicated to developing human capital in Malaysia through various initiatives. We recognise that a sustainable talent ecosystem can be achieved through strategic collaboration among partners, particularly in the oil and gas sector. This collaboration benefits not only PETRONAS but also industry players and relevant stakeholders.
TVET has been identified as one of the main talent sourcing pools to meet the workforce requirements in oil and gas industry. Skilled talents such as welders, fitters, riggers, and scaffolders are continuously produced through these programmes.
PETRONAS remains committed to working with TVET stakeholders to ensure a sustainable pool of skilled workforce. Our in-house learning institutions, namely Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS (INSTEP), Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM), and Kimanis Petroleum Training Centre (KTC), offer TVET courses, among others.
Vocational Institution Sponsorship and Training Assistance (VISTA)
Since 1992, our Vocational Institution Sponsorship and Training Assistance (VISTA) programme has benefitted 37 institutions nationwide, with more than RM95 million invested to produce up to 14,000 graduates. Through this programme, assistance channeled to the selected institutions in terms of infrastructure, training materials, trainers, and curriculum readiness is aimed at ensuring that the identified technical training courses can be conducted according to industry standards and produce a competent workforce.
PETRONAS collaborates with federal agencies’ and Sabah and Sarawak state governments’ TVET institutions such as selected Institut Kemahiran MARA (IKM), Institut Latihan Jabatan Tenaga Manusia (ILJTM), Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM), Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS), Jabatan Pembangunan Sumber Manusia (JPSM Sabah) and others, to produce talents with the right skills for the oil and gas industry.Some of the offered courses include:

Vocational Integrated Skilled Talent Advancement (VISTA i-plus)
In line with the Dasar TVET Negara 2030 introduced by the Government of Malaysia, and recognising the criticality to develop more local TVET skilled workers for oil and gas industry at pace, PETRONAS has elevated its existing VISTA programme into VISTA i-plus.
The Vocational Integrated Skilled Talent Advancement (VISTA i-plus) is designed to foster a whole-of-industry collaborative model, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are actively involved in the skilled worker development programme. VISTA i-plus aims to:
- promote Industry Talent readiness with cutting-edge skills and real-world applications.
- strengthen Industry-Academia Collaboration to improve quality and funding.
- support socio-economic growth via placement opportunities.
A VISTA i-plus Advisory Council (VAC) is established to drive the VISTA i-plus programme implementation at national level, with members from Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, Malaysian Oil, Gas & Energy Services Council (MOGSC), Petroleum Arrangement Contractors (PAC) and PETRONAS.
VISTA i-plus aims to become the leading TVET programme for the oil and gas industry in Malaysia.
