KUALA LUMPUR, 25 March 2025 – PETRONAS today hosted Majlis Berbuka Puasa & Pratonton Eksklusif Filem Web PETRONAS Bersama Media, a yearly tradition that fosters collaboration and strengthens relationships with the media.
PETRONAS Vice President, Group Strategic Relations & Communications, Nooruddin Abdullah highlighted the importance of the networking session and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to acknowledging the media’s crucial role and ongoing support in sharing PETRONAS’ journey.
“Today’s event is more than just a gathering; it’s an opportunity for us to express our gratitude for the enduring relationship we share with all of you. Your dedication to accurately portraying our efforts has played a pivotal role in our progress so far,” he said.
Representatives from PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad, PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad, PETRONAS Gas Berhad, and Gentari also attended the event.
The event featured the preview of PETRONAS Hari Raya webfilm titled ‘Who Could That Be?’ a story about rediscovery, connection, and the enduring strength of family bonds.
The film follows Rafi, a young man who returns home after studying abroad, visits a relative’s house on his mother’s behalf. When he arrives, the relatives do not recognise him, which adds to his awkwardness and discomfort.
As part of the “balik kampung” tradition, where families return to their hometowns during Hari Raya to reunite - Rafi experiences firsthand, the joy and warmth the visit brings to both guests and hosts. Despite the initial surprise and confusion, Rafi gradually comes to realise that the visit is about more than just tradition; it's a chance to reconnect and deepen relationships — often in the most unexpected and surprising ways.
Set against the traditional backdrop of Negeri Sembilan, the film also highlights the state's rich heritage featuring its authentic dialect and stunning Minangkabau architecture, adding layers of authenticity to the story.
In addition to the webfilm preview, PETRONAS also extended festive cheer to the underprivileged through Yayasan PETRONAS’ Uplifting Lives Festive initiative. At the event, the contributions were handed over to its programme’s partner, Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) Kuala Lumpur. Under the programme, a total of 4,850 families nationwide will be receiving essential food items and festive packs.
On the sidelines of the event, PETRONAS also showcased three vendors from its Social Impact Programme under PETRONAS Planting Tomorrow, an initiative to promote sustainable waste management and the circular economy in Bintulu, Kota Kinabalu, and Kemaman. The vendors displayed products like soap made from used cooking oil and items made from plastic and textile waste, highlighting the positive impact of local entrepreneurship on community well-being.
“We not only celebrate the spirit of togetherness through our Hari Raya webfilm but also reaffirm our commitment to strengthening bonds within the community. From showcasing local entrepreneurs to spreading festive joy to underprivileged families, PETRONAS continues to honor traditions while building a more connected and compassionate society for all,” Nooruddin added.
