PETRONAS Appoints Dato’ Seri TPr (Dr.) Maimunah Mohd Sharif as Property Advisor

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 November 2025 – PETRONAS is pleased to announce the appointment of Dato’ Seri TPr (Dr.) Maimunah Mohd Sharif as its Property Advisor taking effect from 17 November 2025. Dato’ Seri TPr (Dr.) Maimunah will guide in shaping the next phase of growth in its property portfolio, primarily with regards to Sungai Besi land, Kota Madani as well as other development properties.

Dato’ Seri TPr (Dr.) Maimunah is a globally respected leader and accredited technocrat with over 40 years of experience in sustainable urban developments. Dato’ Seri TPr (Dr.) Maimunah graduated from the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology, with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Town Planning and a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She had, until recently, held the position of Mayor of Kuala Lumpur.

Dato’ Seri TPr (Dr.) Maimunah has held various key positions in Malaysia including being the first woman President of the Seberang Prai Municipal Council and served as the Mayor of Penang. During her illustrious career in the United Nations (UN) and in global leadership roles, she was the first Asian woman to be appointed Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). She was also Acting Director-General of the UN Office in Nairobi.

Throughout her decorated career, Dato’ Seri TPr (Dr.) Maimunah was conferred with the title of honorary Professor at the Bartlett School, University College London, and appointed as Adjunct Professor at the University of Malaya. Most recently, she received the Leadership Award at the World Smart City Awards (Barcelona) and the Ministry of Housing (Malaysia)’s Best Leadership Award in the ‘City’ category.
