GALERI PETRONAS Embarks on a New Chapter at Ombak KLCC

2026 Media Release - 7 Aug

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 August 2026 – Marking a new chapter in its journey of championing contemporary art in Malaysia, GALERI PETRONAS has announced its relocation to Ombak KLCC, where it will continue to nurture contemporary art through new exhibitions, meaningful encounters and enriching cultural experiences.

As an anchor tenant, GALERI PETRONAS will introduce a special “First Glimpse” experience, giving visitors an exclusive preview of its new home. The experience marks the start of a phased-opening ahead of the gallery’s full opening to the public by the end of 2027.

More than a relocation, the move reflects GALERI PETRONAS’ commitment to advancing Malaysia’s arts and cultural landscape. Through expanded opportunities for collaboration, creative exchange and community engagement, the gallery aims to strengthen the local arts ecosystem while supporting broader nation-building aspirations through arts and culture.

The new space will also enable greater public access to the PETRONAS Art Collection, one of the country’s most significant corporate art collections amassed since 1993, while contributing to a vibrant arts destination that enriches the KLCC precinct and creates lasting value for visitors.

“This move marks an exciting new milestone in GALERI PETRONAS’ journey. More than a physical space, it reflects our continued commitment to making contemporary art more accessible to diverse communities. At its new home, we look forward to creating an inspiring environment where art connects people, sparks conversations and continues to shape new perspectives for generations to come,” said Ir. Norafizal Mat Saad, Vice President, Group Strategic Relations and Communications, PETRONAS.

Established in 1992, GALERI PETRONAS serves as a platform to promote, develop and preserve contemporary art in Malaysia by providing a world-class space for Malaysian and international artists to showcase their works, foster creative exchange and inspire artistic discourse. Over the past three decades, the gallery has welcomed nearly two million visitors through its diverse exhibitions and public programmes.

Previously located at Suria KLCC until end of July, the gallery remains committed to making art accessible, engaging and inclusive for all, while continuing to champion artistic expression through its programmes.
